happy father's day to the man of my dreams.

it's so funny to me how, on your wedding day, when you're marrying the man of your dreams, you're pretty sure you love him more than anything. with your whole heart. and then you have his babies, and your love for the man of your dreams grows more than you thought possible. and then those babies get a little older and look like, or act like, or just do one little thing that reminds you of the man of your dreams, and you see how much they also love the man of your dreams, and you fall in love all over again. every time it happens, i am always surprised and thankful at how blessed i am. but i am not one bit surprised at how wonderful of a father he is.

happy father's day, karl.
you're the man of our dreams.

easily distracted.

recently, i came to an important realization. it had to do with how easily distracted i am. karl and i were on a quest to clean every room in our house, and once i made it to the closet, i found the paint cans...

...and this is what happened. when i was finished, the kitchen was clean, but my husband was confused. i have a thing for birds. i also, am pretty inspired by wall stickers.

maxi's supposed-to-be-spring sweater.

this one came off the needles about a month ago. i was trying to finish it for early spring, but alas, it's nearly summer. at least it is sized a little big, it will probably still fit him in the fall. this sweet sweater pattern came out of one of my favorite books, vintage baby knits.

we signed up for what?

karl and i signed up for a race today. we may be out of our minds. nearly two years ago we started talking about getting into shape more, and wishing we had some fun motivation... something to "train" for. that was when the idea of triathlons started being mentioned around our house. since then we have talked about it often, but have managed to completely avoid really doing anything about it. until today, when we found out about this warrior race. it seems to me to be kind of like field day from elementary school, but for grown ups. plus, everybody is given a free fuzzy viking helmet and a beer. what more could you ask for when it comes to motivation to work out? the first part of our training plan includes tracking down a used jogging stroller, so that we can get out and run with the kiddies in tow. i'll occasionally post updates of our progress.

oh, dear.

i have so much to post, but so little time these days! plus, i can't find my camera cord in order to get my photos on here. that's usually not an issue, but i accidently took pictures without my memory card in place.

i hope to be back in touch soon!
