Grampa Bobby...

...would definitely be proud. In fact, we'll definitely have to pay him a visit while Maximus can still fit into these pants I just made him. Grampa Bobby is the biggest Elvis fan I know, and these sweet pants are kind of a tribute. :)

Oh, and don't mind the binky.
It's purple. It's left over from big sister. He also slept on a hot pink sheet last night...

... desperate times call for desperate measures. Or something like that. HA! Actually, we're completely unorganized and can't keep up with things like binkies and crib sheets because we're having the biggest garage sale of the century this weekend, and things are kind of hectic around here. We're clearing stuff out and saving up for upcoming events*.

*NOTE: contrary to popular facebook belief, these "events" DO NOT include another baby (anytime soon).

more pics from camping!

Madee trying out her new fishing pole,
Daddy helping,

almost everyone,
Searching for periwinkles with Ricky,

the view right out the cabin door.
It was great to wake up to the sound of the river!!

I think I already mentioned how great of a time we had camping last weekend. These were just a few more pictures from the trip, to prove it! The cabin belongs to Ricky's family, and a close group of friends go camping there every year as a reunion of sorts. This is the second year I have gone, and the first year since having a family to take along. Can't wait to go back next year!!

camping equals...

...first time fishing expeditions, bbq'd s'mores, using carseat as high-chair, relaxing by the river, and spending time with rarely-seen friends. This weekend I had the pleasure of taking my fam up to a friend's quaint cabin in the woods of Chinook Pass, and we had an awesome time! My kidlets enjoyed being doted upon by some newly-married and some newly-engaged couples, and I was really amazed at how well my babes handled being out in the wilderness. Madelynn took along her brand new pink fishing pole (which Daddy got stuck holding time and time again) and enjoyed some river fishing. She also was very interested in leaving treats outside the cabin door for all her "chickamunk" friends. Both my kids sported overalls the first day we were there, and I quickly realized that they will ALWAYS wear overalls when we camp--it made for a very handy way to pull them out of dangerous situations (ok, maybe not dangerous ones, but muddy, smelly, rivery ones for sure!).

The drive there and back was definitely part of the adventure as well. The mountain highway had some crazy switchbacks and was drowning in fog... made me pretty nervous! But we made it safely home and enjoyed a beautiful Sunday. The weather at home was much warmer, breezier, and well... just perfect... for drying diapers!!

from grandpa's shirt.

I found a sweet tutorial a few months ago on how to make a toddler dress out of a men's shirt, and I finally had time to make this one for Madelynn using one of Grandpa's old work shirts. She loves it, and is pretty sure I'll be making her more. Goodwill, here I come!!

culinary genius.

Grilled Sweet Potato Salad. Karl made this for us yesterday, and it was AMAZING. Grilled sweet potatoes, grilled corn, roasted red peppers, black beans, chipotles, lime juice... could it get any better?!

mom and dad?!

Our precious little girl is going to be THREE in two weeks, and all of a sudden, Karl and I went from "Mommy" and "Daddy" to just a casual "mom" and "dad." How heart breaking!! But, as I watch her now, dancing around the living room in her Elmo panties and asking her dad to rebuild her "fork" out of blankets and couch cushions, I enjoy her. I enjoy that she is still small and her imagination is large. I enjoy that she has a playroom full of toys, but prefers to play with our flash light. I enjoy that she wears little boy undies because she appreciates a larger Elmo print. I enjoy that her people drawings have too many limbs, and that tomatoes are good to eat out of the garden no matter their color... even if I am just "Mom."
