I found this sweet artwork when I woke up from an accidental nap on the couch the other day. It is right on the dining room table! It's hard to be upset about it, though, when her skills are getting so good. Madelynn informed me that the happy one with no hair is Daddy, and Mommy is the one with lots of hair and lots of legs. Maybe all the hair is making me grumpy? Problem solved--I cut it ALL OFF!! :) Anyway, I still can't decide what to do about the artwork. Should I run for a magic eraser or a clear coat? For now, those little monster people are keeping us company at dinner time...

scrappy baby gift

Here it a fun set I made for a friend's new baby girl. I was able to get it done almost entirely out of scraps I had left over from Madelynn's twirling skirt (plus some terry cloth for the bib and light denim for the soles of the slippers). I had fun experimenting with some embellishments.

I had a pretty great sewing buddy, too. :)

...as boredom at my house! this is what happened when the little brother and sister came over to spend the afternoon, and it was too stormy to play outside--i put 'em all to work!

my most recent knitting project just went from this,

to this, (pardon my photos, i'm still trying to figure out my camera)

and then, thankfully, to this.i was almost halfway done with the sweater i'm currently knitting, when i realized it would be WAY better if i'd have used worsted weight yarn, instead of the sport weight the pattern calls for. i was having to knit so loosely, the fabric was looking kind of sloppy. i am SO much happier with what is happening now. hopefully i'll actually finish this one and be able to show you all what it is. :)

The boy has been busy!

Maximus has decided he's ready to eat food! He's also decided that he'll be feeding himself from now on, thankyouverymuch. Unfortunately, he won't allow me to get a picture of his brand new teeth, and up until just recently, he wouldn't even let me see how he was getting himself from one corner of the living room to the other! He would just magically be in another place everytime I peeked at him. I was beginning to think Madelynn was behind it all, until FINALLY he showed me his new little army-crawl. The boy has definitely been busy!!

a rainy, overcast day not only means less time watering my garden, it also means playing inside. with playdough, of course. madee and i recreated the very hungry caterpillar--a current fav.

she was very insistent that he carry a load of purple. :)

the weekend in photos.

it was a great weekend! we swam, sat around in the sunshine, roasted marshmallows and watched fireworks (and learned that, according to madelynn, the words "firework" and "firetruck" are interchangeable). now if only the sun would come back and the rain would stop, this week would continue to be perfect...
