eww...

So I recently had a slight flare-up of my Crohn's... my first true-to-Crohn's flare-up, so I can no longer trick myself into believing that maybe I was misdiagnosed... as if biopsies lie. Anyway, after spending an evening in the ER on pain meds and starting prednisone again--yuck!! I have decided to do some research so that my having Crohn's doesn't start a pattern of spending my family's already limited funds on a bunch of medical junk for me (a large source of mom guilt). I found a book about a very interesting, though very strict (not my style!!) diet, it is called the selective carbs diet or SCD, and it includes cutting out nearly all carbs--you're onto something Mama Rhondi! :)--and places a lot of importance on making your own probiotic-intensive yogurt and yogurt cheese. I still have to do more research before I decide how well I could follow this diet, and how logical it will be to try while feeding a toddler and breastfeeding an infant, but I think I could at least make parts of it work! At least I am excited to learn to make my own yogurt!!

So... I'm open to any tips I might receive about eating this way, and hopefully I'll buy my book about it soon, so I can continue to be educated about how to be healthy and stay healthy (and off medications!).

my favs

This photo may be a little misleading these days. Doesn't she look sweet? :)

I thought this photo was a really sweet one of Madelynn and Maximus holding hands, especially with Max's chubby little lips in the background.
Here he looks like a spitting image of his father!

cute!

Here's another photo I took the other day.

hmm...

I'm trying to decide which "feet" picture I like the best--this one? or the slightly less original one on the bottom of the page? I want to blow one up to go on my wall, and then hang individual pics of Maximus and Madee all around... Mom and Mama Rhondi, I need your expert opinions. :)

still knitting...

Ok, well Catelynn's sweater needed to be unraveled. It was the right thing to do. I am now making Madee some mittens, and figured I could just be slow about it since it is almost Spring, she could just have them this Fall. But now with the current snow on the ground, I suppose I should hurry up and finish them, will post photos soon. I have also started on Annie's baby gift, and I knew I would be wrong about the gender of her baby, so I used some neutral colors... ok, pretty much I used every color. Now I'm just waiting on more yarn so I can have enough progress to take some pictures of it.

Hope all is well with everyone in blogland.

when Madee doesn't nap...

There were three different afternoons last week when Madelynn decided she was too busy to take a nap. I don't think she made it past 6:30 on any of these occasions...This night she passed out right before I got dinner on the table. We thought if she were doing something fun, she'd stay awake until after dinner. When I woke her up, she had green marker all over her cheek and hands. This was the night she barely made it past the opening credits of Peter Pan before falling asleep right in front of the television. By the way, thank you to Robin and Nathaniel for the fairy dress, she didn't take it off for an entire week, except to bathe when she first got it. :)
And here's my favorite... she was on her way into the kitchen to get her snack when I heard her trip, and then nothing else. Apparently she basically fell asleep while walking. And now, thank God, we are back on track with afternoon naps!!

photo shoot

Today was a day for photos! I have been in need of photos of the kiddos to hang on my still bare walls, so I decided today that I would just take some myself to see how they turned out. I think they just might do the trick!

I love pictures of feet, I took one of Madee's foot when she was just a few days old and it is one of my favorite photos, so I thought it would be cute to do one of Madelynn and Max's feet together...

By the way, Maximus is getting huge already! I know this picture doesn't really show a comparison, but he has already grown out of all his 3-6 month outfits that have footies, and the rest are highwaters!
